Voices Rising – Season 1: Mumbai to Messiah
A journey of two voices, one destiny, and the power of music to unite worlds
Two Mumbai-born software engineers take extraordinary journeys from the world of code to the realm of classical music — a path that ultimately unites them on one of Goa’s most dynamic contemporary art stages.
Oscar Castellino, a celebrated baritone trained in the West, and Parvesh Java, a visionary conductor and founder of the Stuti Choral & String Ensemble, share not only roots in Mumbai and Goa but also a passion for the transformative power of Western classical music.
Season 1 of Voices Rising — subtitled “Mumbai to Messiah” — follows their parallel paths as they prepare to bring Handel’s Messiah to life at the Museum of Goa, a space renowned for its creative energy, cultural relevance, and ability to spark artistic dialogue. More than a concert film, the series is a meditation on the courage to change one’s destiny, the universality of music, and the deep sense of belonging that art can evoke.
Over three episodes, the docuseries captures the duo’s personal histories — from childhood influences and early careers in technology, to their leap into the demanding world of Western classical performance. Viewers witness the rebirth of the Stuti Choral & String Ensemble, the meticulous rehearsal process, and the emotional crescendo of the December 2025 performances in Goa.
Filmed across Mumbai and Goa, Voices Rising explores the contrasts between two worlds — the rhythm of urban ambition and the reflective spirit of coastal heritage. The Museum of Goa, a vibrant hub of contemporary expression, becomes both a literal and symbolic space of harmony, where tradition, innovation, and the human voice converge in celebration.
At its heart, Voices Rising: Mumbai to Messiah is about resilience, reinvention, and the bridges that music builds between cultures and souls.
